GETTING INVOLVED
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
REQUIREMENTS FOR JOINING
In order to join Serotonin you must be a current Griffith University Gold Coast student or alumni.

As we are a youth choir, you must also be under the age of 30.

A basic knowledge of music and singing is required and it is helpful if you have been in choirs before, however this is not essential!

If you don't fit into these parameters but still want to sing in an A Cappella Choir, check out our sibling choirs!
COMMITTMENT AND EVENTS
Once you are accepted into Serotonin after your audition, it is expected that you attend all rehearsals and have rehearsed in your own time, learning all music as directed and coming prepared to workshop pieces with the rest of the choir.

As we are a choir, it is expected you attend all events possible to not let the team down and ensure we maintain our full and well rehearsed sound whilst performing!

It is also expected that you represent the club and the University positively by abiding by all rules and sharing positive content and messages online, at rehearsals and at events.
THE AUDITION PROCESS
To keep our high quality sound and standard, we have an audition process all members are required to go through before they are a part of Serotonin.

Auditionees will learn the part allocated to a provided piece and sing as part of a quintet with our Music Team to judge ability in the areas of pitch, rhythm, blend, consistency and performance, ensuring their voice fits in with the rest of the choir!

The audition is designed to not be intimidating. The music team is incredibly supportive of all auditionees, guiding everyone through the process, providing time for workshopping and offering assistance and feedback with learning and the five key areas of judgement
SIGNING UP
AND INTAKE
We hold sign up and auditions twice a year, at the start of Trimesters 1 and 2!

Find us at the Serotonin Club Stall during O-Week and on Club Sign On Day at Griffith University's Gold Coast Campus to put your name down and be invited to our orientation rehearsal. Here you will learn about the audition song and process in more detail and have the opportunity to meet the rest of the choir, joining in on our rehearsal!

The audition will take place a few weeks after orientation so you have plenty of time to learn the piece and seek feedback!

As our intake is limited to twice per year, make sure to sign up at our stall or send us an email and attend the orientation rehearsal & audition otherwise you will miss out!
